“Attention on deck!”
The Hawkkur Combat Team, assembled in one of the empty
warehouses, snapped to attention as Lord DragonHawk Elias Hawkes strided into
the room, followed by Commander Obrie Lorcan and the command staff, all wearing
their battle armor. Although they were standing at attention, the Hawkkur
troops could not help but notice that Lord Hawkes was carrying the Dragon Helm
under his arm! Those close to the front could the hilt of the Dragon Sword
sticking up above its scabbard strapped to his back.
Ever since their arrival and the rescue of Lady Tolen,
there had been rumors of a Black Dragon – a Rahhol DragonHawk – somewhere on
Conborine. The rumors had been reinforced by the capture of the Dragon
Afflicted Reska Dragon Hunters during the assault on the Guilded Cage. More
Reska Dragon Hunterhad been captured or killed tonight when the alert company
responded to Lord Bane’s emergency beacon.
And now, the Lord DragonHawk was here with the Dragon Helm
and the Dragon Sword to lead them into battle!
The only sound in the room was the whine of hydraulics as a
cargo handler lifted Lord Hawkes so that all of the assembled Hawkkurs could
see him.
“It has been fifteen thousand seasons since Drakkon battled
Rahhol!” Elias Hawkes said, his voice loud and strong, echoing off the
warehouse walls. “Since their defeat, the Rahhol have remained hidden among our
eternal enemy, the Reska. The StarHawke Tycho has always known they were out
there. As have all the generations of StarHawke Tychos before him. We have all
known, the generations of StarHawkes and loyal Hawkkur Warriors that a day
would come, when the time of the Great Dragon would grow near. That one day the
Rahhol would come out of hiding and the battle between Drakkon and Rahhol would be
rejoioned!”
“That battle started at the Diplomatic Dock at Gaanard!”
Elias declared. “It continues here on Conborine!”
“Drakkon!” The Hawkkurs yelled in response, their combined
voices rattling the walls of the warehouse. Elias grinned and turned to Commander
Lorcan.
“You have your orders, Commander!” He said, as Procyon’s
battle cry filled the warehouse with Dragon Magic. “Let’s get moving!”
