So what are the Rules of the DragonHawk Saga?
That question was presented to me after attending the last meeting of the Bay Area Writers League. Author Gail Dayton discussed this item as part of her discusion of world building. You see, the further from reality your story lies, then the more world building you will have to do. In addition to describing/designing the way everything looks, you have to decide how things work.
In an Epic Fantasy such as the DragonHawk Saga, I have to design everything that exists in Star Trader Galaxy, and how it all works. Once you describe something one way, you have to keep it that way through all the stories.
So, I am starting a new document, to keep it all straight, "The Rules of the DragonHawk Saga."
For example:
How does the DragonHawk access the Dragon Magic?
How does a DragonHawk communicate with their Dragon Within?
How is a starship propelled through space?
What is the normal complement of a starship command crew?
So, as I write the DragonHawk Saga, I will have to write down and define all the rules. And then I have to stick to them!
That should be the fun part!
