Star Trader Entertainment Districts!

I'm working on a chapter in Hidden Dragon that gives me a chance to do some creative writing about how life might be on a space station, albiet a well established space station. Space stations that would feature, among all of its other technological features, wide expansive entertainment districts were food, drink, entertainment and shopping would be available for residents and visitors. The opulance and extravagance of the shopping district will depend on the size of the Trade Station.

For example, Gaanard, where there are several families living and and lots of visitors, has several entertainment districts. One is like a duty free area the size of a mall for passengers on starship stopping at Gaanard on their way to and from the InWorlds and the OutWorlds. (Transgalactic starhships traveling between the OutWorlds and the InWorlds are required to layover at Gaanard for two to four days for maintenance to their drive and navigation systems. Its a safety consideration!).

The largest entertainment district at Gaanard is close to the Council Tower and the Star Trader government offices. It is the backdrop for many scenes in all of the stories. The big entertainment district has five levels. The top level features a number of small cafes and a large viewport on the external hull of the station. The first level, which is the widest, is the home of most of the large food and entertainment establishements. The other levels are mostly stores and shops of every kind imaginable.

Other Trade Stations and space stations have similar districts, the size and extravagance depends on the size and the ownership of the station.

Entertainment districts are also found around spaceports on planets. The Low City in Conborine, on Conbor in the OutWorlds, is one of the largest, and most dangerous entertainment districts in the galaxy. Meanwhile on Navpillon, the former crew of the Royal Pride are building a new deluxe city of hotels and shopping in the tall Pillion Pines to support their reknown wildlife expeditions and hunting parties. Even Starport, on dusty, remote Rikkman Three has two bars, the Terminal Bar at the landing field, and the Starport Inn at the end of the street in downtown Starport.

Well, back to work on the stories. Its late and I don't know how much I will write tonight.

Thanks for reading!

Dave
