Updated Website!

Just a quick update tonight. I've updated my website with some changes. Added a resume page. You can view it at:

http://www.starhawke.com/index.html

Work continues on the Dragon Hunters, book 1 in the DragonHawk Saga. Some editing to fix some errors and some realignment to keep everything on track.

Got an early day tomorrow, so I will stop for now. Hope to spend some quality time writing this weekend. Maybe another update.

Thanks for reading!

Made great progress on Dragon Hunters last night. Deleted about half of the book! Go figure. But it's all good. I saved all the pieces.

Sometimes, less is more...

Sometimes less is more. You struggle to write a scene. You pour your heart into it, you hesitate, not sure you are "saying things right." You work on it for several days, making changes, deleting, rewriting, wondering if you were ever gonna get it right.

Suddenly you stop. You want to continue. To write some more. To add more excitement, more intrigue, more... whatever it is you are trying to accomplish with the scene. But something tells you that you have written enough. That less is more. Any any more detail you put into the scene is just gonna clog things up.

The following exchange has taken me most of a week to sort out. Let me know what you think!

Thanks for reading!

“So, Master Hawkes?” A female voice suddenly asked. “What do you think of our new facility?”

Elias turned to see Annie Tolen standing beside him. He smiled as his Dragon Within rumbled uneasily.

Don’t get mad at me! Elias said to Procyon. You’re the one she snuck up on!

“Elias, please.” He said with a grin. “When you say Master Hawkes, I look around for my father. May I call you Annie?”

“Of course, sir,” She replied. “Allow me to refresh your drink.” She said, taking his empty glass and exchanging it for a fresh one from a passing waiter.

“No ‘sir’ either, please.” Elias replied, smiling as he accepted the fresh drink, eyeing her slim form in the sleek blue dress that seemed to cling to every curve. His gaze came to rest on her face, seeing only her impossibly green eyes. “Just plain Elias is fine.”

“So what do you think, just plain Elias?” She teasingly said, a husky tone to her voice that he did not notice before. Somehow she seemed to be standing even closer to him.

“What do I think of what?” Elias asked, caught off guard by her sudden closeness, but unable to look away from her eyes.

“Of Tolen and Blom’s new repair facility.” She said nodding at the model with her head without breaking her eye contact with him.

“Oh…” Elias fumbled for a minute to regain his composure, taking a sip of the wine. He turned to the display, ending up standing extremely close to her. His nostrils were filled with the scent of her perfume, a sharp, cinnamon fragrance that set his Dragon Within to rumbling.

Quiet Procyon! He ordered as he cleared his mind and focused on the display. “An interesting concept. A different approach from other Trade facilities.”

“You mean because it is located on the planet’s surface instead of in orbit, of course.” She said, without taking her eyes off of him. There was a teasing, tantalizing tone to her voice as she continued to ask him questions. He wondered if she was purposefully trying to create a scene or was she perhaps, interested in him.

“Well, yes. I suppose” He said with a shrug of his shoulders, downplaying her point. “Although the Sundai have been doing something similar with the agricultual colonies in the Sundai System.”

He turned and smiled at her and continued aware that other conversations around the display had paused in favor of their discussion.

“Building a repair facility at the spaceport makes perfect sense. The current facilities have been overwhelmed since the immigration started.” He explained, turning to point to the holographic image of the proposed repair facility anchoring one end of the spaceport. “And politically, it’s a great move by the locals.”

Annie frowned, dropping her teasing tone, a touch of anger coming into her voice.. “Why do you think it is a political move?”

“Because everything happening in the OutWorlds is political right now.” Elias replied, smirking at the anger in her voice. “By seizing the terminal, the local Conbor government has effectively cut off any more immigration from the InWorlds. By handing it over to T&B for the new repair facility the Conbor government is stating that the immigration runs will not restart without new negotiations and new concessions.”

“So you don’t approve?” Annie frowned and crossed her arms.

Ye gods, she is beautiful when she is angry! He thought, as his Dragon Within rumbled.

“I did not say that.” Elias smoothly replied with a smile. “I think it is a good move. The T&B facility is sorely needed on Conborine and it will very successful.”

“The situation in the InWorlds will continue to deteriorate, as predicted by my father. The attack on Trann’s Planet is just the start. Manervia and Worrendell won’t stop until they have captured or isolated all of Core’s allies.”

He paused and sipped his wine, frowning as if he were in deep thought. His Dragon Within rumbled cautiously, but Elias ignored Procyon as he concentrated on his words.

“Right now, the Royal Republics are still sending dispatch shuttles and the occasional warship to Conborine to maintain contact with their colonial offices.” He finally continued.

“When the Royal Families run out of funds and the war intensifies, there are going to be a number of starships stuck on Conborine. They may stuck because they won’t have a port in the InWorlds to return to. Or the funds to get there. Or maybe their crews will just desert and go rogue. Lots of places in the OutWorlds to go, and there is always a shortage of starships. T&B is going to be in perfect postion to help the Conbor government deal with all those stranded starships and stranded crews.”

“In the long run, T&B will also be in position to assist the Conbor government with civil engineering projects, spaceport expansions, maybe eventually an orbital spaceport.”

“You seem pretty positive about the future...”Annie said, her voice openly challenging.

Elias smiled at her implication. His father’s stance on the war, his statements about disengagement by the Trade were frequent topics of conversation in the offices of the Trade Senate, as well the restaurants and bars of Gaanard and every other trade station. Fuelled by their own misguided image of the Tycho Star Traders and the Hawkkur Legion, many thought the StarHawke Tycho sought a war against the InWorlds.

“The Tycho Star Traders are all about the future.” Elias said, his voice filled with sincerity, aware that others were listening as well. “That’s why my father is so concerned with the Trade’s attitude towards the InWorlds. Too many Families see only the profits of today, with a blind eye to the consequences of tomorrow.”

Annie started to speak, but stopped as her Dragon Within rumbled a warning. There was truth to what Elias Hawkes was saying, despite his lame attempt to be flippant about it. She glanced around the display area, seeing for the first time the people watching them, suddenly realizing that Elias was performing for the onlookers, a warning to those who crossed the path of the Tycho Star Traders.

There is more to Elias Hawkes than I thought! Annie thought as her Dragon Within rumbled uneasily.

Yes there is, Little One! Capella excitedly warned. More than you know! Elias Hawkes is a DragonHawk!

I know, I sensed their magic. Annie replied, trying to calm her, turning to retrieve two glasses of wine from a passing waiter to cover her surprise. All three of them are DragonHawks!

It is more than that! Capella declared. They are Drakkon DragonHawks! Of the Tycho bloodline!

Procyon rumbled as Elias felt a stir in the dragon magic. She’s talking to her Dragon Within!

I know. Elias replied. He turned to Annie, the dragon magic roiling between them as her Dragon Within growled excitedly. Get ready. I’m going to touch her. Do what you can for her dragon.

Procyon growled in readiness as Elias turned to Annie Tolen and extended his hand.

“Annie.” Elias quietly said, calmly wrapping the two of them in a protective bubble of dragon magic as he reached out and touched her arm. “Tell you Dragon Within to remain calm. You are safe. You have the protection of the Drakkon Tycho.”

Startled, Annie looked up as Elias Hawkes spoke to her. Time seemed to stop around them as she felt the welcoming cocoon of dragon magic engulf them. Capella began to growl, but was suddenly cut off as Procyon’s low rumble washed over them.

“Annie,” Elias whispered again. “Don’t run away. You are safe. I am here and my parents are close by.”

“Elias…” She began. “When we met I sensed…”

“Shh!” He said. “Let’s don’t talk about it right now.” He nodded his head and she looked around, realizing that a number of people were still watching them.

“Oh, of course.” Annie said, understanding his reluctance to talk about… talk about the dragon magic. Closing her eyes, she cleared her mind.

Its okay Capella, She soothed her anxious Dragon Within. We are among friends!

Time flies when you are trying to write!

It's been a while since I posted to my blog, for that I offer my apologizes to anyone who bothered to travel this way in search of something new and witty...
I try to write a couple of hours every night, if I can stay awake long enough.
Enough whining... You didn't come here for that...

I'm working on Dragon Hunters, the first story. Backed up a bit and started to re-write, streamlining, making things flow better, faster, more interesting. The story is coming along, but I am struggling to write witty dialog between Elias Hawkes and Annie Tolen. Of course, I could never come up with witty things to say to girls when I was growing up, so there you are. Maybe I'll sneak some of my wife's romance novels and see if I can get some ideas.

In the meantime, take a look at my website at www.starhawke.com. Its nothing fancy. I've been trying to make some changes along the way.

I need a logo, something like a dragon or a hawk in the background, with a five pointed star in the front. Maybe dragon or hawk rising out of the star. If you think you can draw it - take a shot at it and send it to me. If I like it, I'll use. Maybe make you famous when my book sells!

Thanks for reading!

The Dragon Hunters

The following is an excerpt from the Dragon Hunters:

Bane Sollar walked along in the middle of the crowd working its way through the pedestrian gate at Port Gate Three. His Dragon Within rumbled cautiously as the Star Trader casually glanced around at the large group of spacers, workers, and merchants split into multiple streams as they cleared the gate, some going directly across the busy Spaceport Boulevard for the bars. Others turning towards the long rows of warehouses that lay to the north of the busy port gate. Some continuing up the hill towards the High City and the city’s financial institutions.

Sollar tagged along at the back of a large group that hurried across the street towards the bars and entertainment of the Port District. He wore simple clothes, black military style trousers with large cargo pockets and a dark blue long sleeve jersey against the chilly spring night air blowing off Conborine Bay. He wore soft, crepe soled shoes that he favored when he was in space on the Sollar Star. All were dark colored to let him blend better with the night as he followed along with the crowd until he could turn up a narrow side street into the depths of ‘the gut’, the slang term used by many spacers to describe the unsavory area where they roamed to slake their thirst and other needs. While many spacers wandered the area without any real destination – one place was as good as another for most – Sollar had a definate destination in mind. But he did not go there directly, choosing instead to allow himself to wander about, peering into this bar or the next, as if he was undecided as to where to spend his credits this evening.

Some of the “establishments” had bouncers stationed outside their doors. Their demeanor was friendly enough, their presence telling potential customers that only a certain amount of foolishness would be tolerated here tonight. Others had more friendly attendants; barkers talking a mile a minute as they hawked the benefits of their establishment over others. Sometimes the barkers were accompanied by girls – a majority of the spacers were male – in various costumes designed to further entice the spacers who many had more credits than common sense.

Sollar watched the byplay, pausing from time to time to watch the exchange of comments between the denizens of the Port District and the spacers, as they discussed the merits of such places as the Reactor Room, the Launch Pad, Space Dog’s and a favorite destination of many spacers, the Astro Lounge, which was well known for its nightly fights and brawls. But Sollar did not linger in one place too long. He had plenty of time before he met his contact. Never the less he did not want to get distracted from his task.

In addition to the spacers and others looking for a good time, there seemed to be a larger than usual number of police on the street these nights since the big fire at the terminal. The local Prefecture seemed to be anxious to keep order in the Low City and the Port District in particular. Where he was used to seeing two person teams, there were now three or four officers to each team patrolling the streets. The police seemed to have a lower tolerance for spaceport foolishness than usual. They were quicker to step into an establishment and restore order when the rowdiness started. Usually they stayed outside and did not get involved until the fighting made its way into the street.

Of course Bane Sollar knew what was bothering the police. Particularly the Prefect and his Deputy. In the ten weeks since the fire at the terminal, there had been no clue at all as to the presence of Annie Tolen, the niece of Manchor Tolen, head of the Tolen Star Traders and leader of the T&B teams that were planning to convert the old immigration terminal into a starship repair facility for the busy Conborine Spaceport.

The Tolen and Blom Star Traders were still sifting through the wreckage of the fire. A lot of the debris had been removed and fed to massive mass converter T&B had assembled to handle the melted steel beams and warped plating. It would all be recycled but from what Sollar had heard, T&B had to clear the site before they could start construction. And all of their plans had to be changed as well. The original plan had utilized much of the old terminal, but that was all gone now. Some thought the Star Traders might pull out. But Bane Sollar knew Manchor Tolen would never leave Conborine until his niece was found and returned to him.

Maybe I’ll find a real lead tonight! Sollar thought, Orion rumbling in the back of his mind as he turned into a dark, narrow alley. Up ahead he sighted the yellow light from a small lantern over the large round door came into view. He allowed himself to relax a bit as he approached the door and saw that the lantern light was supplemented by a friendly yellow glow from the shop’s windows. Orion rumbled, a low gutteral growl, as Sollar reached for the simple handle and pulled the old fashioned wooden door open.

There were three couples sitting at the tables under the windows which looked out on a different street than the alley entrance he had used. They glanced at Sollar, their gaze lingering for a moment before returning to their own tea and conversation.

“Good evening friend!” Benouk called out as Sollar approached the counter. “Welcome to Benouk’s!”

Benouk was a short, round human, barely a metron tall. Sollar did not know where his family came from, but he suspected the little man had some Trann heritage in his background. The pastries and goodies that he sold along with his teas were certainly of Trann quality.

He wore simple, brown trousers of a local cut and weave that flowed loosely around his legs. His off-white shirt was cut long and was worn outside his trousers. It was an old, stained thing that at one time might have been white. A dark green apron that hung below his knees was draped over his short body and tied loosely around his expansive waist, festooned with pockets that bulged with all manner of things.

“Hello Benouk.” Sollar said with a grin. “Nice to see you are still open.”

“Bane Sollar!” Benouk said, his voice filled with surprise. “It is good to see you!’’ The tea merchant – and brewer extraordinare – pulled a large metal mug out from under the counter and began placing ingredients around it.

“Tycho?” He suggested, studying the Star Trader.

Sollar nodded, watching carefully as the Tea Master began the complex process of brewing the Tycho Trader Tea. Not many Star Traders were capable of properly brewing the finicky Tycho Trader Tea, much less a NonTrader. But Benouk was a long-standing member of an elite class of coffee and tea merchants of Conborine, veritable wizards when it came to their brews.

“Those who want to know something know how to find something.” Benouk observed as he effortlessly worked the ingredients. “Especially when the Prefect’s Office is in such an uproar.”

Sollar nodded as he watched Benouk, reminding himself that information was a viable commodity in the Low City. That was part of the reason he always enjoyed visiting with the old TeaMaster. His shop was a favorite for the more discrete of Conborine’s Traders, which made Benouk one of the best informed merchants in all of the Low City.

“Yeah,” Sollar said as he watched the gently boiling water suddenly turn a bright shade of blue, darkening a moment later to a deeper indigo. A small cloud of vapor arose from the tea filling the air with its spicy, cinnamon aroma. Benouk smiled and handed the mug to Sollar, who lifted it to his nose to enjoy that special aroma of home. “A lot of cops patrolling the gut tonight.”

“Well, can you blame them?” Benouk offered as he finished the tea and passed the mug to Sollar. “It’s been what – eight, nine weeks since the fire?”

“Ten.” Sollar said as he held the mug with both hands, raising it to his lips for a first tentative sip. The Tycho Trader was perfect. With a sigh, he took another sip and closed his eyes.

The old Tea Master sat his own battered mug on the bar and poured some of the Trader for himself. He stared at Sollar for a minute and then continued in a more subdued voice.

“Let me tell you some things I have heard lately,” He began. “There is a woman, her name is Bionsi, Systein Bionsi. Ever heard of her?”

“Can’t say I have.” Sollar said. “What does she do?”

“This is the Low City,” Benno Benouk snorted. “What do you think she does?”

Sollar drank his tea and nodded for the Tea Master to continue.

“She is different from – the others.” Benouk explained. “Came out from the InWorlds a couple of seasons ago. Brought a bunch of girls with her.” The old Tea Master paused. “All expensive, high class.”

Sollar set his tea down and stared at Benouk. “What do you mean expensive?” He said. “Here in the Low City?”

“Not the Low City.” Benouk explained. “Well, maybe on the edge of the Low City you see?”

Sollar thought for a minute and then nodded. “So all her clients are…?”

“From the High City,” Benouk jumped in. “All VIPs. Bankers, politicians. Conborine’s movers and shakers.”

Sollar glanced over as one of the couples rose from their table and headed for the door. Benouk put a big smile on his face and called out to them.

“Thank you, folks!” He said. “Please come again.”

Sollar returned his attention to Benno Benouk. “So what does she have to do with the missing girl?”

Benouk glanced at his other customers and took a big sip of his tea before he answered Sollar.

“I heard she got into trouble with somebody high up.” He finally explained. “Don’t ask me who!” He said forestalling Sollar’s next question. “I don’t know and I am not going to guess. All I heard is that she was in trouble with someone who backs her place financially and was being blackmailed to help some others.”

“What others?” Sollar quietly asked, his Dragon Within rumbling ominously as he sensed the sudden tension and fear in the Tea Master.

“Some Reska Star Traders.” Benouk finally said. “Her place has been closed for some time now, ostensibly for remodeling. But these Star Traders have been seen coming and going, mostly at night. Since about the time of the fire.”

“Interesting.” Sollar carefully replied as he sipped his tea. Orion growled uneasily as he contemplated the Reska Star Traders being involved in the kidnapping of Annie Tolen. To what end? It did not seem to make any sense. Yet this was the best lead he had heard in some time…

“And Bane?” Benouk said, interruptinghis thoughts.

“Yeah?”

“There’s somebody leading them that looks like a Reska Star Trader but I don’t think he is.”

“What do you mean.” Sollar asked.

“Well, he came in here the other day with a couple of Reska Star Traders.” Benno Benouk asked. “He asked if I could blend an old tea that I have only heard about but never tried to make.”

“What kind of tea?” Sollar asked, not sure what was bothering his old friend.

“Its called Black Dragon.” Benouk said. “Its supposed to be old. As old as Tycho Trader, maybe older.”

“What did you tell him?” Sollar asked as Orion growled in muted anger.

“I told him I did not have the ingredients.” Benouk said. “Nor was I sure of the correct blend.” He paused for a minute and then continued.

“Bane, this guy scared me. He was polite and friendly. But there was a – darkness about him that was frightening. I was shaking with fear by the time he left…”

Sollar nodded, reaching over to place his hand on top of Benouk’s. Clearing his mind, he called to his Dragon Within and sent a surge of dragon magic flowing to his friend. Benouk looked up in surprise and then sighed, as if a heavy load was lifted from his shoulders.

“So you know this – person?” He asked Sollar.
“No, I don’t” Bane Sollar said as his Dragon Within growled. “But I know what he is.”

Star Trader Entertainment Districts!

I'm working on a chapter in Hidden Dragon that gives me a chance to do some creative writing about how life might be on a space station, albiet a well established space station. Space stations that would feature, among all of its other technological features, wide expansive entertainment districts were food, drink, entertainment and shopping would be available for residents and visitors. The opulance and extravagance of the shopping district will depend on the size of the Trade Station.

For example, Gaanard, where there are several families living and and lots of visitors, has several entertainment districts. One is like a duty free area the size of a mall for passengers on starship stopping at Gaanard on their way to and from the InWorlds and the OutWorlds. (Transgalactic starhships traveling between the OutWorlds and the InWorlds are required to layover at Gaanard for two to four days for maintenance to their drive and navigation systems. Its a safety consideration!).

The largest entertainment district at Gaanard is close to the Council Tower and the Star Trader government offices. It is the backdrop for many scenes in all of the stories. The big entertainment district has five levels. The top level features a number of small cafes and a large viewport on the external hull of the station. The first level, which is the widest, is the home of most of the large food and entertainment establishements. The other levels are mostly stores and shops of every kind imaginable.

Other Trade Stations and space stations have similar districts, the size and extravagance depends on the size and the ownership of the station.

Entertainment districts are also found around spaceports on planets. The Low City in Conborine, on Conbor in the OutWorlds, is one of the largest, and most dangerous entertainment districts in the galaxy. Meanwhile on Navpillon, the former crew of the Royal Pride are building a new deluxe city of hotels and shopping in the tall Pillion Pines to support their reknown wildlife expeditions and hunting parties. Even Starport, on dusty, remote Rikkman Three has two bars, the Terminal Bar at the landing field, and the Starport Inn at the end of the street in downtown Starport.

Well, back to work on the stories. Its late and I don't know how much I will write tonight.

Thanks for reading!

The Rules of the DragonHawk Saga

So what are the Rules of the DragonHawk Saga?

That question was presented to me after attending the last meeting of the Bay Area Writers League. Author Gail Dayton discussed this item as part of her discusion of world building. You see, the further from reality your story lies, then the more world building you will have to do. In addition to describing/designing the way everything looks, you have to decide how things work.

In an Epic Fantasy such as the DragonHawk Saga, I have to design everything that exists in Star Trader Galaxy, and how it all works. Once you describe something one way, you have to keep it that way through all the stories.

So, I am starting a new document, to keep it all straight, "The Rules of the DragonHawk Saga."

For example:

How does the DragonHawk access the Dragon Magic?
How does a DragonHawk communicate with their Dragon Within?
How is a starship propelled through space?
What is the normal complement of a starship command crew?

So, as I write the DragonHawk Saga, I will have to write down and define all the rules. And then I have to stick to them!

That should be the fun part!

The Dragon Hunters

I am working on a very important scene right now. Its about two ladies having tea.

No, you read that right. I said two ladies having tea.

These two ladies by the way, Lady Mani Hawkes, wife of the StarHawke Tycho, and Mistress Annie Tolen of the Tolen Family Star Traders, just happen to be powerful DragonHawks in their own right.

They met at a reception hosted by Annie Tolen for the announcement of the new Tolen & Blom starship servicing and repair facility on Conborine, in the OutWorlds. Both know, thanks to their Dragons Within, that the other are DragonHawks. And while Mani Hawkes is a Drakkon Tycho DragonHawk, the most powerful of all the DragonHawks, Annie Tolen is not afraid.

And that is why Mani Hawkes is so taken by her. She would be the perfect mate for her son, Elias, a headstrong Drakkon Tycho DragonHawk who needs someone to reign him in. But how does she arrange it, without making it looked arranged? Especially with so much attention on the Tycho Star Traders these days?

What we need now, is some sort of incident to throw them altogether.

Hmm, back to the story...

Probably

I've been working on Dragon Hunters today. As I was reading some of the passages I had written I realized there was a word that I was probably using too much.

Probably.

So I did a "Find and Replace" to delete every instance of the word "probably." In 47,643 words, I found I had probably used the word "probably" seventeen times!

The moral of the story. Be careful with your writing. Watch for your own personal abuse, overuse of specific words.

Back to Writing

I'm back to writing now, working on the first four novels in bits and pieces. The process is working pretty well since I finished plotting them out. Most of the time I only have an hour or two to write in the evening. Being able to jump to whatever motivates me at the time is working pretty well. Since I pulled a bunch of chapters out of Tycho Station (book 2)  and moved them to Dragon Hunters (book 1), there is a lot of rewriting to do in Tycho Station, to fit all the parts together. It also helps me expand on some of the characters, and fill in blanks between gaps in their individual storylines.

Its going to take a lot of work to get Dragon Hunters and/or Tycho Station ready for publishing. I'm hoping to take a week away from work, go hide in the Texas Hill Country at my brother-in-law's cabin and do some serious writing. At least that's the plan.

Well, back to the stories! Thanks for reading!

More Pondering and Plotting

Last Sunday's pondering and plotting worked out very well. I have a firm storyboard and outline for Dragon Hunters worked out now, and a good start on the first part of the story.

Now I am working on Tycho Station, which needs a lot of revamp, as the other stories and the main storyline has sort of twisted around it. I've already moved one character up to Dragon Hunters, to introduce her earlier and give her more time to do what she needs to do in Tycho Station.

I've also managed to clean up a number of other story issues as well. But you'll have to read the book to find out what I mean!

Back to work!

Pondering and Plotting

No writing today. Maybe.

I met an author whose books I really enjoy reading last night. Her name is Kim Harrison and she writes an Urban Fantasy series about a witch, Rachel Morgan. Last night she was signing copies of book 9 in the series, Pale Demon.

She and the other author at the signing, Patricia Briggs, talked a lot about their writing. I think I like Kim's style, because it fits in with what I have tried to do. She talked about plotting out her stories, then when she starts to write, she knows what she wants to do and just lets it all go.

If you have been reading my blog, you know in the past I have had problems with storylines going awry. So today I will do some pondering and plotting, try to nail down the backstory and make sure that Dragon Hunters is on track. After all, it is the first story. Everything else has to flow from here!

Check out Kim Harrison at http://www.kimharrison.net/. And if you want to read some good books, get yourself a copy of Dead Witch Walking, the first book in the Rachel Morgan series!

Cheers!

Quick Update

Well, the block broke and I am writing again! Accomplishing a lot lately mostly on Dragon Hunters (Book 1). Not speed but quality progress. A lot of rearranging of bits and pieces. Shifting chapters around.

I like the way things are shaping up!

Writing again!

I've had a tough few weeks fighting off a cold. Fortunately it was not the flu. Just a bad case of the galloping crud.

This weekend I worked on an important chapter of The Dragon Hunters. It's the chapter where Elias Hawkes meets his future wife, Annie Tolen. Very important chapter. No Elias and Annie, no Morgan, no Great Dragon! I will post some of it when it is finished.

Thanks for reading!

Dragon Summer

I am afraid, Dragon. The boy finally said. Afraid of what I know. And what I don’t know. But I have to learn. And you are the only one who can teach me.

Fear is good, DragonHawk! The Dragon replied. It tempers your eagerness and keeps you wary!

A New Website

I have a new website tonight, as I work to expand the marketing of the DragonHawk Saga, and my writing skills in general. You can find it at http://www.starhawke.com/.

A lot of behind the scenes organization going on this weekend, working on backstory issues and the Master Timeline. And some writing as well. I have been jumping back and forth between Dragon Hunters and Tycho Station, trying to make a little progress on both, rather than what I was making: No progress on either.

Enough excitement for now.

Cheers!

It's all in my head!

Hi there friends and readers of the DragonHawk Saga! It's Friday and I am happy to report I have resolved some of the major problems I...
