Probably

I've been working on Dragon Hunters today. As I was reading some of the passages I had written I realized there was a word that I was probably using too much.

Probably.

So I did a "Find and Replace" to delete every instance of the word "probably." In 47,643 words, I found I had probably used the word "probably" seventeen times!

The moral of the story. Be careful with your writing. Watch for your own personal abuse, overuse of specific words.

Back to Writing

I'm back to writing now, working on the first four novels in bits and pieces. The process is working pretty well since I finished plotting them out. Most of the time I only have an hour or two to write in the evening. Being able to jump to whatever motivates me at the time is working pretty well. Since I pulled a bunch of chapters out of Tycho Station (book 2)  and moved them to Dragon Hunters (book 1), there is a lot of rewriting to do in Tycho Station, to fit all the parts together. It also helps me expand on some of the characters, and fill in blanks between gaps in their individual storylines.

Its going to take a lot of work to get Dragon Hunters and/or Tycho Station ready for publishing. I'm hoping to take a week away from work, go hide in the Texas Hill Country at my brother-in-law's cabin and do some serious writing. At least that's the plan.

Well, back to the stories! Thanks for reading!

More Pondering and Plotting

Last Sunday's pondering and plotting worked out very well. I have a firm storyboard and outline for Dragon Hunters worked out now, and a good start on the first part of the story.

Now I am working on Tycho Station, which needs a lot of revamp, as the other stories and the main storyline has sort of twisted around it. I've already moved one character up to Dragon Hunters, to introduce her earlier and give her more time to do what she needs to do in Tycho Station.

I've also managed to clean up a number of other story issues as well. But you'll have to read the book to find out what I mean!

Back to work!

Pondering and Plotting

No writing today. Maybe.

I met an author whose books I really enjoy reading last night. Her name is Kim Harrison and she writes an Urban Fantasy series about a witch, Rachel Morgan. Last night she was signing copies of book 9 in the series, Pale Demon.

She and the other author at the signing, Patricia Briggs, talked a lot about their writing. I think I like Kim's style, because it fits in with what I have tried to do. She talked about plotting out her stories, then when she starts to write, she knows what she wants to do and just lets it all go.

If you have been reading my blog, you know in the past I have had problems with storylines going awry. So today I will do some pondering and plotting, try to nail down the backstory and make sure that Dragon Hunters is on track. After all, it is the first story. Everything else has to flow from here!

Check out Kim Harrison at http://www.kimharrison.net/. And if you want to read some good books, get yourself a copy of Dead Witch Walking, the first book in the Rachel Morgan series!

Cheers!

Quick Update

Well, the block broke and I am writing again! Accomplishing a lot lately mostly on Dragon Hunters (Book 1). Not speed but quality progress. A lot of rearranging of bits and pieces. Shifting chapters around.

I like the way things are shaping up!

It's all in my head!

Hi there friends and readers of the DragonHawk Saga! It's Friday and I am happy to report I have resolved some of the major problems I...
