A Taste of Dragon Hunters

Here's a little bit from Dragon Hunters that I thought I would share tonight:

“I did not say that.” Elias smoothly replied with a smile. “I think it is a good move. The T&B facility is sorely needed. The Conbor government needs as much help as the Trade can offer. There’s plenty of profit for anyone willing to help Conbor and the other OutWorld colonies.”

“What about the Royal Republics?” Annie asked. “What do you think they will do?” Annie caught herself, her face filling with uncertainty as she felt the sudden change in the web of dragon magic that englobed them. Have I said the wrong thing…

Bless you, Annie! Elias thought as his Dragon Within fiercely growled. She had asked the perfect question.

“There’s nothing they can do.” Elias calmly and coldly answered. “Otherwise, they would have already done it. The war in the InWorlds will only get worse,” Elias said, using his father’s words to the Star Trader Council. “The attack on Trann’s Planet is just the latest escalation. Manervia and Worrendell won’t stop until they have captured or isolated all of Core’s allies.”

He paused and sipped his wine, frowning as if he were in deep thought. His Dragon Within continued to rumble as he concentrated on his words.

“I suspect Travernon will be next,” He calmly stated to a chorus of gasps from those eavesdropping on their conversation. “It’s the only major technology center left in the InWorlds. Manervia and Worrendell need Travernont intact to continue processing the food products from Trann’s Planet.”

Annie was surprised by Elias Hawkes’ cold words, her own indignation building. She started to speak, stopping as Capella growled a warning. She glanced at the crowd gathered around the display, taking in the outraged expressions and looks of surprise on their faces as she suddenly realized what he had been doing.

Easy Capella! He’s deliberately provoking them! She said, watching the indignant crowd as she struggled to regain her composure and that of her trembling Dragon Within. We must remain calm!

She’s talking to her Dragon Within! Procyon rumbled, but Elias could feel her fear building as she and her Dragon Within struggled to remain calm. They sense the anger in the crowd!

I know. Elias replied, the dragon magic roiling between them as her Dragon Within growled excitedly. Get ready. I’m going to touch her. Do what you can for Capella. Procyon growled his readiness as Elias turned to Annie and took her hand.

“Annie.” Elias quietly said, calmly wrapping the two of them in a protective bubble of dragon magic as he reached out and touched her arm. “Tell you Dragon Within to remain calm. You are safe. You have the protection of the Tycho Drakkon.”

Startled, Annie looked up as Elias Hawkes spoke to her. Time seemed to stop around them as she felt the welcoming cocoon of dragon magic engulf them. Capella began to growl, but was suddenly cut off as Procyon’s low rumble washed over them.

“Annie,” Elias whispered again. “Don’t worry. You are safe. I am here and my parents are close by.”

“Elias…” She began. “When we met I sensed…”

“Shh!” He said. “Let’s not talk about it right now.” He nodded his head and she looked around, realizing that there was a large number of people were still watching them. Closing her eyes, she cleared her mind.

Its okay Capella! She soothed her anxious Dragon Within. We are safe! We are among friends!

Don't forget! Dragon Hunters is now available on Amazon.com for the Kindle and from Smashwords (www.smashwords.com) for other devices.

Thanks for reading!

I'm a writer. I know a little about a lot of things, but not a lot about anything. And the rest I just make up.

A tidbit from Dragon Heart...

Here's a tidbit from Dragon Heart that I have been playing with:

“They see you and I together…” He started, searching for the right words as Procyon rumbled awkwardly. “And they think… they hope they see the future of the Tycho Star Traders.”

Capella cautiously growled in response to Procyon as Annie blushed furiously. They had grown steadily closer since that fateful reception at Gaanard when she had first met Elias and his parents. Since then, her fate seemed to be racing down a predetermined path by the visions that continued to haunt her mind. While she remained determined to control her own fate, her own destiny, she could not help but feel her love for Elias steadily growing. She was pretty sure he was falling in love with her in his own, sometimes aggravating, sometimes romantic, always cute in an awkward sort of way. Had he seen visions of his own? Or was he just driven by his powerful sense of purpose and duty as the son of the StarHawke Tycho?

And then there was the Hawkkur Legion and its fanatically loyal members. The Family Guard, the Gaanard Troop and the Hawkkur Combat Teams embarked upon the Tycho Triumph and the Tycho Victory, whose members had fiercely thrown themselves into the battle on Conborine. To rescue her from Reska kidnappers. To rescue a family from the mercenaries who had taken over their business. To rescue Tolen and Blom from the threats to their ill-fated terminal project. And to rescue a city from the clutches of a Black Dragon – a Rahhol DragonHawk – who was their sworn enemy. They did these things willingly because they were driven by their duty as a Hawkkur Warrior, the honor of the Warriors who had served and died before them. And for the glory of the Hawkkur Legion and the generations of Hawkkur Warriors yet to be born.

Duty. Honor. Glory. It permeated everyone and everything at the Tycho Trade Station. Coupled with Fate it pushed them inexplicably towards whatever destiny was in store for the Tycho Drakkon and their people.

As always, thanks for reading! And don't forget to get your copy of Dragon Hunters and let me know what you think!

A Dragon Hunters Update

Well, it's been a long two weeks for me, cleaning up and reformatting Dragon Hunters and resolving the various issues that I was having with the Amazon Kindle process. The main problem turned out to be with Internet Explorer not wanting to process the Kindle page. I switched over Google Chrome and the process worked fine. The Kindle IT people recommended Firefox, but the software my wife uses for her work is not compatible with Firefox, so I can't install that.

Anyway, Chrome is working okay and right now Dragon Hunters is being processed for Kindle on the Amazon site, and by SMASHWORDS for the Nook, Apple Bookstore and a variety of other formats. It will take a few hours (6 to 24?) for them to process, but hopefully by Monday Dragon Hunters will officially be online for sale.

So, keep your fingers crossed and I'll let you know when Dragon Hunters is available for your purchase! As always...

Thanks for reading!

Dragon Hunter Update

I hope you are having a good weekend.

I hoped to write this entry to tell you that Dragon Hunter was now available on Amazon, but unfortunately, I continue to have some technical problems with their website. I hope to have those problems resolved soon.

It has been an interesting process getting here. I have developed a better understanding of the value of having a publisher to deal with these mundane issues so I can concentrate on the writing. Of course, the proof is in the pudding, as the saying goes. What will determine if it has all been worthwhile is whether or not anyone likes the book.

In the meantime, I will take advantage of a quiet, rainy Saturday here in Seabrook, Texas, to continue working on the saga. I'm fighting the urge to go back through Dragon Hunter one more time... I should be making the transition to Dragon Heart... We'll see.

Whatever happens, I'll be ready for Amazon just as soon as their IT resolves the problem. Hopefully this weekend.

As always, thanks for reading!

Dave!

It's all in my head!

Hi there friends and readers of the DragonHawk Saga! It's Friday and I am happy to report I have resolved some of the major problems I...
